Hoffman Estates is a village primarily in Cook County, Illinois, with a small portion extending into Kane County. The area was developed starting in 1954 when Sam and Jack Hoffman, owners of a father-son construction company, purchased 160 acres of land. The village was incorporated on September 23, 1959.
The Now Arena (formerly Sears Centre Arena) is home to the Windy City Bulls of the NBA G League. Hoffman Estates served as the headquarters of Sears, Roebuck and Company, which relocated to the Prairie Stone Business Park in 1993. Major employers in the village include St. Alexius Medical Center and Siemens Medical Systems.
