Kenilworth is a village in Cook County, Illinois, located along Lake Michigan between Winnetka to the north and Wilmette to the south. The village was founded in 1889 when Joseph Sears purchased 223.6 acres of land for a planned community, and reached the 300-resident threshold for incorporation on February 4, 1896.
The village's architectural inheritance includes Frank Lloyd Wright's Hiram Baldwin House, a Prairie School design completed in 1905. Architect George Washington Maher — a historically significant figure in Chicago-area architecture — was a Kenilworth resident.
