Niles is a village in Cook County, Illinois, situated in Maine and Niles townships adjacent to Chicago's northwest border. The area was first settled in 1827 and originally called 'Dutchman's Point' due to early German immigration. The village was formally incorporated on August 24, 1899, with 500 residents.
