Park Ridge is a city in Cook County, Illinois, situated approximately 15 miles north of downtown Chicago. The city was incorporated in 1873. Early settlers arrived from New England and New York in the 1830s; in 1854, George Penny established a brickworks in the area, anchoring the city's early economy in brick manufacturing.
The Pickwick Theatre, an Art Deco structure built in 1928, remains a recognizable landmark in Park Ridge. The city is the hometown of Hillary Rodham Clinton, who graduated from Maine South High School in 1965, and is also associated with actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Snodgress, and Karen Black. Park Ridge has a Metra station on the Union Pacific Northwest Line.
