Deerfield is a village in Lake and Cook counties, Illinois, located approximately 28 miles north of downtown Chicago on the North Shore. The village borders Bannockburn, Riverwoods, Highland Park, and Northbrook. Deerfield was originally settled in 1835 by Horace Lamb and Jacob B. Cadwell as Cadwell's Corner, and was renamed around 1850 by settler John Millen in honor of his hometown of Deerfield, Massachusetts. The village was formally incorporated in 1903.
The Deerfield Historic Village, maintained by the Deerfield Area Historical Society, includes five historic buildings, among them the 1837 Caspar Ott Cabin. Deerfield is the corporate headquarters of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Baxter Healthcare, and Fortune Brands Home & Security.
