Grayslake is a village in Lake County, Illinois, located approximately 40 miles north of Chicago and about 14 miles west of Lake Michigan. In 1840, Massachusetts-born William M. Gray settled along the then-unnamed Grays Lake. The village was incorporated in 1895, after the Wisconsin Central Railroad established a station in 1886.
The Lake County Fairgrounds is located in Grayslake. Educational institutions in the village include the College of Lake County and two public high schools, Grayslake Central and Grayslake North.
